Providence Journal Endorses Nellie Gorbea for Secretary of State

In their October 16 editorial page, Rhode Island's paper of record - the Providence Journal, enthusiastically endorsed Democratic nominee Nellie Gorbea for Secretary of State. The editorial board described Nellie as "a bright, energetic and articulate advocate of openness in government". They also commented the historic nature of Nellie's candidacy - she will be the first Hispanic elected general officer of a New England state.

Rhode Island AFL-CIO Endorses Nellie Gorbea For Secretary of State

Providence – The Rhode Island AFL-CIO unanimously voted on September 12th to endorse Democratic candidate for Secretary of State, Nellie Gorbea. If elected Gorbea will become the first Latino to be elected to statewide office in New England.

“Nellie’s forward thinking approach to solving tough problems is the type of leadership that we need in Rhode Island,” said Rhode Island AFL-CIO President George Nee. “Nellie understands the challenges facing Rhode Island’s working families and is committed to making sure that our government is working for them and looking out for them.”

New information from de Ramel’s official campaign Twitter account on Sunday, September 7th confirmed that Newport Hangars has an occupancy rate of 100 percent. The tweet, which came out at 3:43pm stated, “PS – Newport Hangars 100% occupancy w/people spending $$ in RI economy. No need for website.”
