"Elections are central to democracy and voting must be fair, fast and accurate. I admire Secretary Clinton for making elections a cornerstone of her campaign. It is clear that our elections must adapt to the needs of today’s voters and take advantage of modern technology. As working mothers, Secretary Clinton and I understand that no one should have to choose between voting and family or job responsibilities. I applaud Secretary Hillary Clinton’s proposals for universal and automatic voter registration, as well as early voting.

Secretary Gorbea Presents Plan to Modernize Voting and Elections, Increase Participation

Providence, RI - At a State House news conference today, Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea unveiled the Department of State's Voting and Elections Modernization Act of 2015 (VEMA). The legislation will allow Rhode Islanders to register online to vote, improve the integrity of our voter rolls, allow early in-person voting and strengthen rules around handling mail ballots.
